The **DMT Crystal Saver sharpening steel** is a semi-circular sharpening steel to sharpen extremely hard objects. According to DMT this sharpening steel specializes in removing sharp edges of fine crystal, porcelain, ceramics, glassware or other hard materials. 

## Grain size DMT Crystal Saver

This diamond-coated sharpening steel is enhanced with a layer of monocrystalline, synthetic diamonds with a coarse grain size of 45 microns (± J300 grit). Monocrystalline means that each diamond is comprised of one crystal. Unlike polycrystalline diamonds, monocrystalline diamond does not wear out as fast. As such it is great for a sharpening steel! 

## How to use the DMT Crystal Saver

The flat side of this sharpening steel offers more surface to quickly sharpen a straight edge. The round side enables you to sharpen a curved blade, like a karambit, a gouge or a pocket knife with a recurve. It's also good to know that a diamond-coated sharpening steel needs to be pre-sharpened. At first it might feel coarse, but this will become less after using the steel a couple times, after which it will have its desired effect.
