**Knivesandtools 550 paracord type III** made in USA is the perfect material to make a lanyard or wrist band. Originally designed for paratroopers in the American army, but today it is an indispensable tool for outdoor enthusiasts. It is incredibly practical for outdoor activities.

 ## Knivesandtools 550 paracord type III: Unique and rock-solid rope

 The number 550 stands for the tractive force of 500 pounds (approximately 250 kg). The outer casing contains a core that contains seven core strands. If the paracord is too thick and the maximum tractive force not necessary, it is possible to remove this core. The thin strands from the core are said to also be used as suture material in case of an emergency. We haven't tested this theory yet!

## Paraglow: clearly visible or nice-to-have?


What does ‘paraglow’ mean? How much light does it produce? We went out and tested it ourselves. The paracord lights up if you point a flashlight on it, but this effect does fade quite quickly. You can also ‘charge’ the paracord with daylight, but it doesn’t catch as much light as real glow in the dark paracord. As such we can only conclude that it is more a nice-to-have than must-have feature. Great when you use black light or UV light in the dark. Think of black light sports tournaments or blacklight parties.

Kort, fel aanschijnen en blijft in maanloos duister lang zichtbaar, hoewel al gauw niet zo fel. Let wel, maanloos duister bevordert de zichtbaarheid van lichtzwakke objecten, vanwege het hogere contrast.
Niet erg, maar moet je wel even weten en het doel er niet mee hebben. Voldoende lichtafgevend om de binnententritsen mee zichtbaar te houden, zonder dat je een hoofdlampje aan hoeft te maken waarmee je je tentgenoten stoort. 
Níet lichtafgevend genoeg om je sleutels mee te vinden in een veld vol gras.
Wèl weer lichtafgevend genoeg om je hoofdlampje te vinden in je rugzak, mits goed binnen 5 uur sterk aangeschenen voor opbergen. Het is maar net wat je er van verwacht.
Wèl lichtsterk genoeg om telescoop-accessoire-tasritsen mee te kunnen blijven vinden, als je ogen aan het donker gewend zijn.
Lichtschakelaars, verlengkabelstekkers, als er iets aan vastgeknoopt kan raken en je wil het in het pikkedonker terug kunnen vinden tot vijf uur nadat er licht op heeft geschenen, is dit ideaal!

Bij platduwen is het ongeveer 1.4 maal zo breed als ander 550 paracord (ik heb ook cyaan en oranje, die zijn wel even breed als elkaar). Het is tevens merkbaar dikker in ontspannen toestand.

paracord is goed om mee te knopen, helaas valt het "glow in the dark effect" erg tegen. dooft snel uit en moet met een zeer stevige lamp aangeschenen worden wil het wat doen.
