The origin of SOG fixed knives
The SOG brand originated during the Vietnam War. At the time, members of the secret American special unit MACV-SOG carried a distinctive combat knife during covert missions in the jungle. Years later, this knife served as inspiration for designer Spencer Frazer, who founded SOG Specialty Knives in 1986. His goal was to recreate the original SOG bowie knife as faithfully as possible and thereby pay tribute to the special forces. From this first SOG fixed blade, a broad range of robust and practically deployable knives soon emerged.
