The **Casström Classic Spoon Carving Knife 15021** is a left-handed spoon knife. You use it to cut-out the hollow side of a wooden spoon, or to hollow out a classic Scandinavian Kuksa-mug. This is only the blade. As such you can make your own handle. Choose a material (not included) and get to work!

 Casström chose carbon steel for the blade. Hardened and tempered up to 58-60HRC to remain sharp for a long time. The edge is of course a classic scandi-edge. Easy to sharpen and perfect for wood work. Carbon steel isn't stainless so make sure that after use you clean it and use a couple drop of oil once in a while.

 ## Tips for making your own handle

 Choose the right material. Purchase a piece of G10, micarta or other type of hard wood. Olive wood or ebony, for instance. Drill a hole in the block where you will place the tang of the blade. In terms of glue we recommend an epoxy/two-component adhesive. The rule of thumb here is: the longer it takes to dry, the stronger the connection will be. Properly degrease the surface before using the glue, and roughen the parts of the blade and the scales with coarse sandpaper before you add the glue for optimal adhesion.

  **Please note: making your own knives (and all other DIY projects) is not without risk. That is why you should always use safety goggles, gloves and respiratory protection. The knife is already relatively sharp so we recommend adding some tape to the edge before you get to work. Knivesandtools is not liable in case of an accident or when you damage your knife.**
