The **Nontron No.25** is a classic pocket knife from France. The No. 25 has a 9 cm long blade. As such the No. 25 falls in between the No. 22 and the No. 30. 

### French T12 steel

The blade of this Nontron knife is made from French T12 steel. Forged in the Forge de Laguiole workshop. This steel is stainless. Perfect for food prep during a picnic to cutting a steak in a fancy restaurant. You traditionally open the blade with two handes. 

### Turning ferrule lock

This knife is enhanced with a ferrule lock. A ferrule is a ring that rotates around the pivot. As such the blade is blocked to make sure it won't accidentally close. 

### Ebony wood and aluminium handle

The handle is made from fancy ebony wood. A type of wood with a dark look and feel. Ebony is very hard, has short grains and a very even structure. The aluminium in the handle is in nice contrast with the rest of the knife. 

### Double ferrule handle

The end of the handle is enhanced with an additional, decorative ferrule. A nice detail. This won't block the blade like the ferrule at the start of the blade. 

## Nontron pocket knives: revival of the oldest French pocket knife

Ever since the 16th century, Coutellerie Nontronnaise has been producing pocket knives in the French village of Nontron. As such Nontron is the oldest, still existing knife brand in France. Like before, these knives are still produced by hand. Characterizing for a Nontron knife is the reversed V-symbol. Burned in the wooden handle with the help of pyrography. The reversed V is an old and mysterious symbol of which the origin is unknown. Regardless of its historical significance, the charm of a Nontron knife is absolutely timeless!
